ART AGAINST EBOLA: WE'VE GOT THE TOOLS

#ArtAgainstEbola

The Ebola virus was declared a ‘threat to peace and security’ by the UN Security Council, as it claims thousands of lives in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia and devastates the health systems and economies of those countries. Yet according to Jim Yong Kim, president of the World Bank and Paul Farmer, a professor at Harvard Medical School and a Founder of Partners in Health, “we have the knowledge, tools and resources to stop it.” Further: “With a strong public health response [...] the virus could be contained and the fatality rate — [...] — would drop dramatically, perhaps to below 20 percent.”

WHAT YOU CAN DO: CUT THE HEADS OFF THE SNAKE!

By owning a piece of art by one of these artists you are supporting the work of Last Mile Health, an organisation based in Liberia that trains local health workers in rural areas to respond to Ebola, and to the catastrophic health crisis the country is now facing as a result of it. Original art (8×8″) is $250. Prints (8.5 x 11″) are $75. You may also purchase a high quality print of the entire 21-headed Ebola serpent: 17x17” for $350 and 24 x 24” for $500.

HOW IT WORKS:

1. Click on a snake head that you like or the body of the serpent for the entire illustration. 2. Make a note of the artist's email address 3. Go to Last Mile Health to donate the appropriate amount or more. 4. On that donation page, designate your donation to Ebola Response, dedicate your donation to Art Against Ebola and add the artist‘s email address as recipient. 5. You will receive a confirmation email from Network for Good. Forward it along with your mailing address to the artist whose work you have chosen. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipping (US only).
