ART AGAINST EBOLA: WE'VE GOT THE TOOLS
The Ebola virus was declared a ‘threat to peace and security’ by the UN Security Council, as it claims thousands of lives in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia and devastates the health systems and economies of those countries.
Yet according to Jim Yong Kim, president of the World Bank and Paul Farmer, a professor at Harvard Medical School and a Founder of Partners in Health, “we have the knowledge, tools and resources to stop it.” Further: “With a strong public health response [...] the virus could be contained and the fatality rate — [...] — would drop dramatically, perhaps to below 20 percent.”
